HOKI ｜ホキ

Born in 1997. 

His representative character named “Tsunoda” has two horns on his head but still there’s something relatable and familiar about its look. The artist talks about the various forms of “strength” that people possess, and says his character projects the negative thoughts that fall within those strength. The canvas is filled with muddy colors in the slow rhythm. Perhaps the familiarity comes from a feeling of dullness and childlikeness within Tsunoda and the viewers inner selves.

 
1997年生まれ。 富山県出身。 

彼の代表的キャラクターである 「ツノダ」 は、 「角」 が生えているにもかかわらず、どこか 親近感を抱かせる趣を持つ。 作家は、人の持つ様々な「強さ」 の形を考え、その強さの中に転がるネガティブな思考をキャラクターに投影させているという。キャンバスは濁色系の ゆっくりとしたリズム感で配色されている。そこには、気だるげな日常と、 小さな出会いたちに、一つずつ名前をつけていくような、あどけなさもあるように見える。

As people grow up and live in reality, memories of past slowly fade out. Not only memories but also the things we used to cherish, like the garden we saw in our childhood can be no longer there anymore. Through the green nature and playful rabbits in her works, she creates a fantastic virtual space where we can recall our forgotten memories as well as to live in the present. 

2018年誠信大学東洋画科卒業、 2020年弘益大学美術学部東洋画学科博士号、同大学大学院東洋画学科修士課程修了。人は大人になって現実を生きていると、子供時代の記憶が段々と薄れていくことに気づく。記憶だけでなく、よく行った公園が今はもうなかったり、大切にしていた何かがいつの間にか何処かへ行ってしまったり。作家は現実世界を生きながらも、そんないつかの思い出を一つずつ蘇らせるように作品を描く。ウサギに自らを重ねながら見ると、どこか知らない誰かとも繋がれるような気持ちになっていく。

JUN KONISHI ｜小西純

 Using watercolors, she paints pop and cute looking and yet sometimes serious themes or dreamy sci-fi worlds. With girls and animals, she expresses unspoken feelings she finds in everyday life. The twinkles and the depth in the eyes of the girls in her paintings seem to be reminding us of the innocents. The watercolor brushstrokes also have a kindness that gently embraces the naive side hidden inside all of us as well. 

水彩を使用し、ポップで可愛く、時にシリアスなテーマやSFチックな世界も描いている。作家は、女の子や動物たちと共に、言葉にできない思いを表現しており、日々の生活の些細な出来事から着想を得ているという。絵の中の彼女たちのキラキラと輝く目は、誰もが持っているはずの無邪気な心を想わせ、水彩の筆跡にはナイーブな自分をそっと抱きしめてくれるような優しさがある。

SHOHEI SAWAI ｜澤井昌平

 
Born in 1988.
Graduated from Musashino Art University, Dept of Japanese Painting in 2012. 
Completed the Japanese painting course at the same university graduate school in 2014. 

The images are based on the scenery that the artist saw in real life. The mixture of the colors and the freshness of the paint make us feel the passage of time, allowing us to see the scene projected by something closer to the human eye memories rather than a photographs. Even though each form of the objects in the canvas seems ambiguous, the whole screen is full of strong existence of the city and people there. 

1988年 神奈川県出身。2012年武蔵野美術大学日本画学科卒業、2014年同大学大学院日本画コース修了。

作家は、実際に見た風景を基に絵を描いている。色の混じり合いや塗りの鮮度、強いブラシストロークは、時の流れや動きを感じさせ、写真よりも人の目に写った記憶に近い情景を見せてくれる。それぞれのフォルムは曖昧なようでも、画面全体にはれっきとした人や街が存在し、見る人をその場面にいざなってくれるだろう。

WOO WON JUNG ｜チョン·ウーウォン

Born in 2000
Based in Seoul. 

Her signature is a female character with big eyes and thick lips. She creates digital images using an iPad and reproduces the ideas in the digital world into analog paintings. The glisten eyes and the emotional expressions of the girls, painted in the monotone colors, look like to have powerfulness and strength that almost remind us of some action movie heroines. 


2000年生まれ、ソウルを拠点に活動。 

彼女の作品の特徴は、 大きな目と厚い唇を持つ女性キャラクターであり、ポップカルチャーに敬意を表してイメージは作成されている。 iPad を使用してデジタルイメージを作成し、アナロ グペインティングによってデジタル世界のアイデアを再現。 女性の輝く瞳と感情的な表情、そしてモノトーンで描かれた世界には、まるでアクション映画のヒロインのような力強さがある。
